People managers have a crucial role to play in communications, but how can internal communicators fully tap into their potential?

With People Managers being well positioned to support the engagement of people with key organisational priorities - such as enabling change, communicating ESG issues and values, bringing EVP to life and driving productivity – enhancing their communication skills is a top priority for internal communicators.

This two-part interactive and practical virtual course will equip internal communicators with the knowledge, skills and tools they need connect with, and activate the communication power of, people managers.

The programme will also support attendees with overcoming key challenges internal communicators face when working with people managers, the principles of providing feedback to support communication development, and building trust and compassion in manager-led communications.

The course also includes the opportunity for a personal coaching call in between the workshops to help participants apply the tools and techniques.

This course is aimed at IC professionals seeking to improve people manager communications within their organisation, in particular those who regularly support, advise and provide content to people managers. It is best suited to participants working at professional levels 2 and 3.

    • Being clear on why we are communicating and what we need to achieve
    • Articulating messages so they are clear, understandable and memorable
    • Selecting the most appropriate way to communicate to have impact
    • Bringing messages to life and making them relevant and actionable
    • Using conversation and dialogue to engage teams and keeping people engaged – face to face or online
    • The power of stories and how to use them effectively
    • Bringing communication to a strong conclusion
  • The principles of providing feedback and helping People Managers be better communicators
