6am
Wake up and curse my alarm. Briefly dream of moving to a job – any job – based in North London.
6.20am
I have my morning routine down to an art given that I usually leave the house around 6am, so after a speedy exit from the house I drive up to Wellingborough where my first meeting of the day is. I really hate driving, but my mornings have improved significantly now that Greg James is hosting Radio 1's Breakfast Show – I love him.
8am
Arrive in Wellingborough with enough time to prep for my 8.30 call – great. Locked out of the room – not so great.
8.15am
Finally make it into the room and look over my notes. Our HR leaders have a weekly huddle call, and today I'm joining to update them on our Listening Sessions progress. We're evaluating our Employer Value Proposition, so I'm helping coordinate Listening Sessions across the country to hear from our people.
8.45am
Call done, so I pop upstairs to see if anyone I know is about. Our business is spread all over the UK, and I'm usually based down in South West London, but thanks to my job I get to know a lot of different people.
9am
Have a chat to one of the team about editing some posters for a job fair next week. My graphic design skills are limited (aka non-existent), but I do have PDF Editor which seems to be all that's needed for this.
10am
Time for our meeting. It's a cross-HR group and we're planning for how we can support our colleagues with their mental health – something I'm really passionate about. We were planning on running a campaign for Mental Health Awareness Week next year so this ties in nicely.
12pm
Dash out of the meeting and have a speedy lunch on my way down to Milton Keynes. Feel a bit like I live on the motorway
1pm
Today we're filming some of the graduates who will be asking the video interview questions for our 2019 applicants. We spend a while trying to figure out how to make a laptop into an autocue…
5pm
Filming done, so I drive over to the MK Arena – we have a big annual event tomorrow and I need to help set up. When I get there preparation is in full swing. We sort out some of the tables and put out flags and pop up banners.
6.30pm
We're all ready for tomorrow – it's Driver and Operator of the Year, where 110 of our best drivers and MHE operators compete for awards. It's always good fun and gives me an opportunity to chat to drivers from all over the country.
7pm
Get back to my hotel, make sure I've got my interview questions ready for tomorrow, and collapse into bed to catch up on the Bodyguard before getting an early night.
