Today is World Mental Health Day. How are you talking about it?
Communicating appropriately around mental health in the workplace is not only a conversation, but a long-term objective that is essential to get right.
The IoIC understands the complex role of internal communicators and the challenges they face in addressing difficult topics in the workplace. The ability to find the balance between empathy and information, support and strategy, urgency and understanding, is something that IC professionals at all levels must nurture in any organisation.
In order to support our community in navigating these difficult conversations, the IoIC has created two factsheets as part of a Mental Health at Work series.
The second factsheet, Campaigning and Consulting about Mental Health, launched today on the IoIC Knowledge Hub, and is now available to download.
Designed to help internal communicators campaign about mental health at work, this resource covers the creation and delivery of campaigns, sharing personal employee stories, employee consultation on mental health, where employers invite feedback, and ideas to help organisations learn from the experiences of their employees.
You can view this resource, as well as the first factsheet, Communicating About Mental Health, which talks more generally about approaching mental health communications, here.
