FAQS for the Listening Groups

Whats going to happen as a result of this?

The Resolution Partnership will present their report and recommendations to the Board at the end of February 2023. Results with agreed actions will be communicated to the membership by 10 March 2023.

How confidential are the conversations?

The Resolution Partnership will report on the main themes, sometimes illustrated with real words. The words chosen could have been used by anybody in the groups and are not connected to an individual.

Why do you have different types of groups?

The Resolution Partnership methodology is to provide a safe space where members with similar gender, social and ethnic identities are free to discuss their lived experience. Groups have found this to be a safe and comfortable space to express their views.

How many groups?

For the Listening groups on race, we intend to hold two groups with Black, Asian and minoritised ethnic members and one group with White members.

Why only 8-10 people?

Listening groups work best when there is a free conversation. To make sure everyone can easily contribute to a video conference, we are limiting the groups to a maximum of 10 people in each group.

How will you choose people for the groups?

Where groups are oversubscribed, we will invite a random sample across membership levels and locations.

Who is The Resolution Partnership?

The Resolution Partnership is a coaching, communications and consulting firm. It has worked with small and large organisations on issues ranging from engagement and communication programmes, leadership team coaching, executive coaching and issues related to diversity and inclusion. They have worked across sectors with organisations including HSBC, Royal Mail, Anglo American and City and Guilds. Jennifer and Catherine will facilitate the Listening groups, write and present the report and recommendations.

Jennifer Powell

The Resolution Partnership

Jennifer has over 20 years’ experience as a change communications strategist and facilitator. She is also an accredited Executive coach. Her experience spans FTSE 100 companies, the public and third sectors. She works with leadership and functional teams on strategic communications and with major organisations including Pfizer and Network Rail, on increasing inclusion.

Jennifer has facilitated leadership and internal communications skills development training for HSBC and facilitated leadership conferences for a range of financial organisations including Allianz and Aviva Investors.

Jennifer was previously a Principal (Partner) at Towers Perrin, the global management consultancy and worked in their UK culture change and communication practice for 10 years. In addition. She has a number of professional accreditations for coaching, psychometrics and mediation.

Catherine Phillips

The Resolution Partnership

Catherine has over twenty years’ experience working as a specialist in engagement and facilitation. Through strategic employee insight and facilitation programmes, she helps identify factors which affect talent attraction and retention, reduce staff turnover and help businesses improve performance. She is an accredited Executive Coach.

Catherine has gained this experience working as a Senior Consultant in a Global HR Consultancy and Employee Insight lead roles in HSBC and Unilever. Clients she has worked with cover a broad range of industries including Pharmaceuticals, Oil and Gas, Retail and Public Bodies. She is adept at using data to identify and develop authentic leadership, leading to higher levels of engagement.

Based in the UK, her work has included working in South-East Asia, Continental Europe, US and South America.

Catherine and Jennifer have worked on inclusion listening exercises together.
