Get the lowdown on our network for IC newcomers.

FutureNet is the first and only network of its kind. It's dedicated to supporting new internal comms professionals as they find their feet in IC. Whether you're striving to be a future leader or want to perfect your craft, it ticks all the boxes.

Aimed at people just starting on their internal comms journey (whether they're fresh out of uni or fancy a career change!), FutureNet makes sure you feel valued, developed and inspired.

I joined the network in August 2018, after a year working in internal comms. This phrase is definitely overused, but I basically 'fell into comms' – I didn't know what it was, nor did I have any experience, but I fell in love with it really quickly.

As an industry newbie, I was looking for somewhere to ask questions, brainstorm ideas and network with people in similar positions. And that's where FutureNet came in. I went along to my first event feeling really nervous, but I haven't looked back since – so much so that I even joined the FutureNet committee soon after to help shape the network's future!

For me, FutureNet is unique. It's a community, the chance to learn, to network and to meet people, and I feel like I'm part of something that has real purpose. I like to think that, collectively, we're shaping the future of internal comms.

It's a completely safe space to ask questions (even the ones we might think are stupid!), where you get relevant and useful advice. From each event, there are practical takeaways and plenty of ideas to pinch – it's allowed, I promise!

On top of all that, FutureNet will open new doors and give newcomers experiences that will help to build and develop skills. And, everything we learn can be used in our day-to-day roles.

Over the last year, by embracing these opportunities, I've devised and hosted my own event and written blogs and articles for the IoIC website. I'm waving goodbye to IC imposter syndrome!

If you're looking for industry insight, development opportunities and career advice, FutureNet is definitely the place for you. And if you're a comms manager with new team members, encourage them to get involved – the skills they'll develop will be invaluable.
