A growing number of organisations are choosing kindness as a value for their business. This should be a perfect opportunity for internal communicators, since we have the privilege and responsibility to find and tell stories that inspire, motivate and connect our people. But opportunities to show kindness in action can be missed because they are falsely seen as ‘fluffy’ or weak. And yet kindness benefits businesses and individuals alike by contributing to a culture of trust, psychological safety and connection. When you throw in the evidence of a link between positive wellbeing and productivity, it’s hard to ignore the importance of kind story-telling. In this session you will learn to understand what kindness looks like, why it matters and how to tell stories about it.
Three takeaways from the session:
- Kindness is powerful and has strong benefits for both individuals and businesses.
- Learning to ‘see kind’ is an important skill for positive employee experience and wellbeing.
- Internal communicators can learn to see kind and include those stories in their employee content

Kindness Cheerleader and Strategic Communications Consultant, Browning York
Sarah Browning is a Kindness Cheerleader and Strategic Communications Consultant, who describes internal comms as her first love (professionally speaking). In 2021 she founded the Time for Kindness wellbeing programme, to inspire and teach people to notice the kindness that already exists in the world. She believes that there is a lot of kindness out there, we just don't talk about it enough (yet) and that's where comms pros come in. Outside of work she is a (very) amateur artist and a women’s football fan.
